Jamie Beyerle and Bryant Wallizer Win National Championship Titles FT BENNING, Ga. (June 16, 2009) ![]() The Women’s 50m 3 Position Rifle and Men’s 10m Air Rifle finals were held today at the 2009 USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle/Pistol with 2008 Olympian Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, Pa.) taking home the title in 3P and Bryant Wallizer (Little Orleans, Md.) finishing first in Air Rifle. Beyerle claimed the national title for the second consecutive year in Women’s 3 Position after firing a match score of 1152, a final of 97.8 for an overall score of 1249.8. Beyerle’s 2008 Olympic teammate Sandra Fong (New York, N.Y.) took second place with a total of 1247.5 points. Emily Holsopple (Wilcox, Pa.) finished right behind Fong in third place with 1246.4 points. Fong and Holsopple also grabbed the first and second spots respectively in Junior Women’s 3 Position and Caitlin Morrissey (Topeka, Kan.) claimed third place with 1243.1. In Men’s Air Rifle, West Virginia University rifle shooter Wallizer claimed his first USA Shooting National Championship title with a match score of 1185, a final of 103.4 for an overall score of 1288.4 points. Jonathan Hall (Carrollton, Ga) finished second with 1285.6. Matthew Wallace (Fairbanks, Alaska) took third place with 1284.8. For the juniors, 2008 Olympian Stephen Scherer (Billerica, Mass.) finished on top with 1275.9, while Dempster Christenson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) took second place with 1267.9 and Zachary Wells (Sharpsburg, Ga.) finished third with an overall score of 1267.0. The Rifle/Pistol National Championships are being held at Ft. Benning’s International Shooting Complex in Columbus, Ga., home of the USAMU, and will run through June 21.
