Josh Richmond Wins Bronze in Double Trap at San Marino World Cup

SAN MARINO (June 20, 2009)

U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) member Josh Richmond (Hillsgrove, Pa.) captured the bronze medal in the Double Trap event in rainy and windy weather conditions in San Marino today.

Richmond, who won the gold at the World Cup in Munich last month, entered today’s final in third place with a match score of 142 out of 150 targets, but then missed both targets of his first pair in the final and ended up with 48 out of 50 hits. Richmond finished with a total of 190 hits, taking third place overall. Junjie Mo of China captured the gold with 193 hits and Sweden’s Hakan Dahlby grabbed the silver with 191 hits.

Richmond’s USAMU teammates Glenn Eller, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist, and 2000 Olympian Bill Keever finished in 11th and 26th places with scores of 137 and 131 respectively.

Competition at the San Marino World Cup, which is the fourth and final leg of the 2009 ISSF World Cup Series for Shotgun, continues on Monday with the Women’s Trap Final. The Men’s Trap final will conclude the World Cup on Tuesday, June 23.
